For young artists in the Canberra/Monaro Region

Background

The theme for the Queanbeyan Council Cultural Committee in 2007 is Recycle

Young people explore and express their ideas in powerful ways so they are invited to create a work of art that may inspire our community. Their work may challenge us, reflect upon or interpret the ways in which our society is using its resources.

Awards

Textile Artwork Award $500 includes work made with manmade or

                                                                         natural fibres

 2- Dimensional Award $500 includes photography, drawing,

                                                                          painting or mixed media  

3 - Dimensional Award $500 includes ceramics, sculpture or installation

Benedict House Acquisitive Award $500 Open to any medium, entrants must indicate if they want to be eligible for this award as the artwork remains the property of Benedict House

 

Conditions of Entry

1 Finished work must be completed by students aged 16-20 years (proof of age may be requested)

2 Work must be completed in 2007

3 Work must show evidence of recycled materials or make reference to ‘recycling’ issues in the subject matter

4 All two dimensional work must be ready for hanging with D-screws or eye rings attached.

    Works on paper must be framed – a stretched canvas is considered framed

    All three dimensional work must be clearly labelled as suitable internal or external display.  External work must be

    weather proof      

5 All works must be clearly labelled with Artists details and title of work

6 All works, accompanied by entry forms and non-refundable $5.00 entry fee must be delivered to Benedict House on

   29th or 30th November between 10am and 5pm

7 All works must be available for exhibition from 5th- 16th December

8 All works must be no larger than 1.5 square metres or 1 cubic metre

9 All works must be collected from Benedict House between 19th and 23rd December

   Works not collected will be disposed off in a way deemed suitable

10 The decision of the judging panel will be final

11 In the case of a large number of entries the judging panel will conduct pre-selection for hanging.

12 Works may be made available for sale A 20% commission will be deducted from the sale price

13 A 100-200 word artist statement must be attached to the application form
