Q Theatre – Strangers in Between
An Award winning comedy by Tommy Murphy - son of Patricia Murphy (Thursday afternoons at Benedict House)
From the Writer and Director team of the smash hit HOLDING THE MAN, which enjoyed sell-out seasons at Griffin, the Sydney Opera House and Belvoir Street theatre in 2007, and in Brisbane and Melbourne in 2008.
The Sydney Morning Herald called STRANGERS IN BETWEEN "bitter and sweet and replete with raw emotion". The Sun Herald found it "irresistibly heart-warming" while the Sunday Telegraph had a "charming and often exhilarating experience". SX News called it "the best new Australian play since Michael Gow's 'Away'".
Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre 6-7 May Bookings: (03) 6298 0170
Tommy Murphy is an award-winning playwright with recent productions in New York, San Francisco, Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney. He is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (Director's Course) and a former writer in residence at Griffin Theatre Company.
In 2007, his play Holding The Man won the NSW Premier's Award for Best Play after its sell-out season at Sydney Opera House. Tommy is the only playwright to win in successive years; he was the youngest recipient of the award with Strangers in Between. Both plays are published by Currency Press and will soon embark on national tours.
His other works include Troy’s House, Precipice and an adaptation of Marlowe’s Massacre at Paris. His play Saturn’s Return will premiere in the Sydney Theatre Company Wharf 2 Season in August 2008.
The lucky newsletter voucher for this week goes to Liane Rumble. Must be collected from the bead shop by next Thursday 8th May 2008.
Take Care,
Kate
