BENEDICT HOUSE NEWSLETTER

Good Afternoon All,

That little sign of spring some weeks ago has been burnt by the frosts over the past weeks. Greg has been pruning the fruit trees but it is more the weather to be tucked up watching the Olympics.

Our last newsletter had so many pictures that many were returned. If you don’t get it just check our website each fortnight

THE REFECTORY CAFE NOW OPEN

We are still enjoying the food – some days we run out of food and other days we stand around scratching I have had a few mishaps – I forgot to put a little split in the chestnuts until they started exploding – bombs in the oven – sounded like Beirut – chestnuts flying around my lovely new kitchen until I got a lid on the pan- then I had to spend ages cleaning chestnut off the tiles I served potatoes very proudly last week – they were brown on the outside when I served them – I didn’t taste one until we were cleaning up – hard as a rock – customers were so polite , they hadn’t complained about the raw potatoes that I had served so enthusiastically

Current Menu (we change it when we get sick of eating the leftovers) –
make up your combination from the following small serves @ $3 ea

- Baked ricotta
- Baked spinach (in eggs and cream)
- Potatoes roasted in thyme and lemon
- Beetroot and feta

MOVIE
Well I must admit (much to my old husbands despair) I stayed at home last Saturday night to watch the Men’s Four row – remember them? They were the rowers that came and modeled the boxers at our last fashion parade. They were thrilled to get a medal as they were real outsiders. My son Fergus just missed out on the team – he has had to watch from the lounge room- all part of life.
