Some ideas on how to pay for your beading passion
AT HOME
1 Put together approx 30 pieces of jewellery with a range in style and price
Price them reasonably the cost of the beads and your time @ approx $15 per hour
2 Clean your house and /or garden
3 Buy a few bottles of champagne on special, some fruit and deli stuff (there is a great new one in Citylink Plaza in Queanbeyan)
3 Invite 15- 20 friends, colleagues, friends of friends to your home for a Sunday afternoon or evening gathering
4 If you are half good they will all buy one thing each because people appreciate things that have been hand made and they will have had an enjoyable evening meeting new people
Even better - halve the work and do it with a friend
AT WORK
If you like your work colleagues and there are enough of them, take 10 pieces in each fortnight present nicely on a piece of velvet or something
Send them all an email make the prices reasonable -Bob is your uncle- they would rather buy from you than a multi-national
Tip target the men most hate going to the shops full stop and they will be very impressed by your multiple talents
This would make me happy then I wont feel so guilty about you spending all your hard earned money on beads and we are all giving pleasure to others with our craft and creativity.

Barbara Mickelson is holding an introduction to Shibori Dying leading up to our Japanese Shibori artist Yuh Okano’s arrival on 15th October for three workshops, exhibition and parade (see links on newsletter) This will introduce you to a brief history on the subject plus a hands on experience with silk and dye. Several traditional techniques will be explained and demonstrated plus an explanation of some modern innovations with man made fibres and technology! Dyes will be for sale to take home and experiment and play with, in the hope that you will continue to play and design your own unique accessories or garments. We hope to ignite your curiosity to enrol in one of Yuh’s workshops to explore more techniques and possibilities.
