Hello All
At last it is here!
The Venetian glass shipment of large beads and pendants and rings. They are all hand blown, most have an opaque matt finish, some are transparent.
Exclusive to BENEDICT HOUSE. Direct from Venice- at no other shop in Australia.
I am beside myself - I love every one of them and desperately want to make them into necklaces – there are a limited number for earrings.
They will go onto our new website this week and I will re-order as soon as I see what is most popular – I don’t really want to part with them but I cannot live on bread alone and as my husband continuously reminds me it does not grow on trees so they have to be offered for sale.
They are not cheap – the cheapest bead is $20 – one will need at least three to look effective- No change from $100 for a necklace.
A single pendant on leather or suede will look effective though- $20, $38 and $54 It will be interesting to see your different interpretations.
They must be knotted however – so the glass does not rub and chip. Simple knots however using leather, or cotton, or suede. I have been experimenting and can show you some ideas
They will be in the gallery on the desk on white plates.
Everything else seems boring in comparison
IN - sterling silver earring findings, new pearls, big coral nuggets, black lava stone and lots of bright frosted glass beads for summer fun
Please let it rain today
Does anyone want to learn the art of Shibori dyeing. If so, see Kate.
THIS THURSDAY
Remember we have evening trading on Thursdays from 5-8pm. You may wish to call in here after work and have a glass of sparkly and look around – your don’t HAVE to buy – we accept window shopping here.
Then you are invited to go to the ARTISTS SHED for the opening of Japanese influenced artworks as well as Japanese Art. They are open from 6.30 at 14 Foster St, Queanbeyan (behind Magnet Mart) They are a great group of artists at the shed and it is always interesting.
THIS SATURDAY
The ACT storytellers guild are telling stories in our Gallery. Evidently some stories are funny, some are sad. A considered alternative to Saturday night at the movies- Cost $5 for supper.
Do you want to learn the principals of design and some theory of colour? More of an art workshop than beading – but we play with the beads.
Over two nights on 14 and 21 September.
It’s all happening in Queanbeyan this week – including a little bit of Venice.
Cheers,
Kate
