Well, was there was a break with tradition this week! Instead of the runners and cotton pants, my old husband dusted of his suit and tie and down the hill we waddled (I had to carry the high heels in the travel bag – quick change before the entrance) to the grand opening of the “Q” theatre and Cultural centre in Queanbeyan. I have never seen a Queanbeyan crowd so beautifully adorned as in the formal gathering – Matilda House commented on the dress standard when she welcomed us. The Governor General commented that his ‘heart was warmed’ by the wonderful gala concert performed by Queanbeyan talents – Mike Smith, Tommy Murphy, rapper Omar Musa, Jacki Haas. Irish dancers Ellen Bradley and Leanne McGrath danced their little strong feet off ( before they go to New York this month). The Maori Cultural group and the Macedonian Dance group also performed – that is just to name a few. It was a wonderful night for Queanbeyan. The theatre seats 350 so is quite intimate – we can waddle down the hill – so there may be more snippets about the ‘Q’ rather than the movie from now on. We did pop in and see ‘Bella’ on Monday night. A tender movie.
The lucky newsletter voucher for this week goes to Michelle Connor. Must be collected from the bead shop by next Thursday 13th March 2008.
Take care,
Kate
